Men's Ministry
1 Chronicles 12:8 says, “Some Gadites joined David at
the stronghold in the wilderness, mighty men of valor, men trained for
battle, who could handle shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces
of lions, and were as swift as gazelles on the mountains.” These men were
not afraid of the enemy's strongholds and were trained for battle. Our men’s
group here at ALWC of Whippany is named after David’s mighty warriors.
These men could handle life and were men of determination and confidence.
Their hearts were joined to David's and their motive was to live peacefully
with him and help him protect the congregation
(1 Chronicles 12:17).
1 Chronicles 12:21-25 says, “And they helped David against the bands of
raiders, for they were all mighty men of valor, and they were captains in
the army. For at that time they came to David day by day to help him,
until it was a great army, like the army of God. Now these were the
numbers of the divisions that were equipped for war, and came to David at
Hebron to turn over the kingdom of Saul to him, according to the word of the
LORD: of the sons of Judah bearing shield and spear, six thousand eight
hundred armed for war; of the sons of Simeon, mighty men of valor fit for
war, seven thousand one hundred;”
We see in the scripture that they assisted David in every battle against the
enemy forces and the number of soldiers increased daily to become a great
army of God. These men were equipped for war and fit for battle.
The Men of Valor Men's Ministry will equip, train, and instruct you on how
to be a good soldier of Christ. Your growth in the Lord will be evident as
you learn to be a man of faith and power. You will experience the excitement
of team ministry as you join your heart with the vision and commit to assist
Pastor Joe Arminio defeating the enemies of life, liberty and the pursuit of
the Gospel.
Men of Valor meet several times a year. Past meetings have included special
speakers, breakfast seminars and group discussion. The annual Men's Advance,
an overnight conference featuring a specially chosen guest speaker, is held
every Spring at an area hotel. It is here that the men are able to "advance"
in God through intense fellowship and teaching of the Word of God, and are
able to obtain a greater understanding of their roles as husbands, fathers,
friends and men of valor.
